Versions Affected: 4.26 and 4.27
  • Fixed weather sounds broken by 4.27.1.
    Added a "Z Disturbance" setting to the volumetric clouds, which distorts clouds on the Z axis. Not enabled on Low material quality.
  • Added a "Temperature Offset" setting to Weather Override Volumes, to allow the "Get Current Temperature" output to be made arbitrarily colder/warmer inside of weather volumes.
  • Added a setting to control how soft/sharp the edge of the sun disk is.
  • Fixed a visual bug with the raindrops effect in the DLWE function.
  • General performance improvements to weather effects.
  • Improvements to compatibility with blueprint nativization.

Update. Has the fix for a sound bug caused by 4.27.1, and a few other small changes.

- Fixed weather sounds broken by 4.27.1.

Sound like great fixes! I updated the project again, see the original post link for the latest version (23 October 2021).
Note that it is saved in 4.26 but can be migrated to 4.27 without issues. Enjoy!

Im using it in my current project in ue5, its compatible and dont give any particular errors, its great but need more fix when its cloudy, too much resource used but you can resolve setting some value.
I also package it without any errors

Nice to hear! Can you tell us more about how you add the updates I share to your game, while preserving your already customized settings?
Also what settings help resolve the performance issues when it's cloudy?

Volumetric clouds are nice to see but have a big impacts on yours framerate.
Especially in ue5 that have a nice sky i dunno if is a good idea to use it. Im using the effect that dynamic weather have on landscape but also this effects consume too much resource, so in an open world as my projects i will avoid it.
I redo a lot of time my projects from scratch because i make mistake that have a big impact on performance and so i try to avoid this plugin/blueprints where possible.

Anyway for dont consume too much resource just reduce the intensity of the clouds and play with various settings with framerate on so you can see the impacts that your modify will have. Try using the full cloudy weather (that have the baddest performance in dynamyc weather) to try your settings.

If the game run fairly well with the cloudy weather then will be good for all the others.

I have a 4.26 version of this plugin but when i tried it on UE 5, volumetric clouds just didn't work. I checked blueprints and materials for errors but did not found a reason. Standard UE5 cloud materials are working fine.

I used it (last version) on ue5 and works but do not have sense for me, ue5 have a very nice weather (day/night cycle) system inside the engine, the only reason to use it are the override weather and the mask on the surface for rain puddle & snow, but this stuff consume a lot of fps compared to the weather of ue5.

I suggest you to follow ome tutorial on the weather of ue5 otherwise use it in ue 4.26 that work well.

Another thing, 2 month ago i started my projects using ue5, that was a terrible error for me, because ue5 have a lot of bugs inside that will show you only when you go deeply in your project.

Dont make the same error.

Actually i really like volumetric cloud materials in it, they are much better than the default ones. Also nice rain particles and surface puddles (you said about it). Stars texture is very cool too. But yeah, all this consume really a lot of fps.

As long as Unreal engine 5 is not officially released (don't forget we're still in beta..), there is no official support for any assets in v5.0.
It is confirmed also by the creator it works in 5.0 but it is not perfect yet as the engine is different and still in development. Epic is still working on the engine and the creator will update the asset concordantly. We expect more news in Q1 2022.

For this reason, my updates here are still in v4.26 (I see no use of 4.27 yet as 95% is focused on Arch Viz). Note: there is no way to officially open UDS in the 5.0 editor without first loading it on 4.26/4.27 and then exporting it. So you can export UDS to 4.27 or even 5.0 but no official support is there, hope this clarifies it for some people. That being said, thanks for sharing your experience in 5.0 so others know what to expect. I am sure the creator of UDS will optimize it regularly to fix the FPS drops. And as you are used to, I will also share the update here with you! 😉👍

Finally, I am ahead of you guys! Haha :1325:
There are 2 updates done (1 is a hotfix) for the Ultra Dynamic Sky & Weather assets!!

Here are a few topics that are Added, next to all the fixes and changes they did:

Versions Affected: 4.26 and 4.27
  • Added a Screen Droplets post-processing effect, which applies rain droplets to the camera when it's exposed to rain. Disabled by default, can be enabled from a new Screen Droplets category on UDW.
  • Added a setting to UDW for "Water Level" which applies a simple kill height for the rain/snow particles. Also occludes weather sound and disables screen droplets below the level.
  • Added controls for Sunset/Sunrise Color to the Sky Atmosphere category, to more easily adjust the colors of the sky at sunrise/sunset, with the fog colors affected as well.
  • Added a "Directional Balance" setting to UDS, to scale the contribution of directional light on the scene without affecting the brightness of the sky. Default intensity has been increased some as well. If you want to return to the old default look I'd recommend reducing Directional Balance to 0.7.
  • Added an option to scale the amount of inside cloud fog for volumetric clouds.

Hi, yeah just checked 1 day before they updated it, lol. But it's done, the version of 17 dec 21 is now live.
Here is the list of new addons and fixes for the dynamic sky, enjoy!;

Versions Affected: 4.26 and 4.27
  • Added a new Lens Flare effect to UDS. In the Lens Flare category, you can enable an optical lens flare for the sun. Presets for multiple lens types included.
  • Fixed a bug where weather material effects would not be updated correctly when affected in certain ways.
  • Added a new function to UDS called "Transition Sky Light Intensity". It can be used to fade the skylight intensity to a new level over a specific amount of time.
  • Adjusted default sample balance for volumetric clouds to reduce noise at the top of the sky.
  • Added an option to the Rain Drip Spline to have it ignore the weather state.
  • Adjusted range of weather intensity cutoff with cloud coverage, so rain/snow under somewhat lower cloud coverage is possible by default.
  • Adjusted behavior of weather when wind intensity is at 0, to make the snow movement calmer and the sound effects a little quieter.
  • Made it so "Enable Rain and Snow Particles" can be set at runtime to enable/disable particles manually.
  • Added an option to have rain/snow particles be cut off as the camera goes above the volumetric clouds.
  • Fixed a bug with random weather variation starting up with the wrong rain/snow value.
  • Fixed a bug where cloud shadows could flicker in some scenarios.

Either you spawn it at runtime to get a handle, or access it through the level blueprint

This is an asset pack you can add to your project extremely easily. Just migrate the full folder "UltraDynamicSky" from the content folder to your project. Drag and drop the BP and it works already perfectly. Allot of settings to tweak in the sun, moon, clouds behavior, and of course a Day & Night cycle.

I highly recommend this asset! It's the best weather system in the marketplace and has become standard in all of my levels. If you use M4's Island preset for your terrain make sure to follow these instructions to integrate it with UDS for amazing quality Island lighting:
